Following a commanding 4-1 victory in the T20 series, India now shifts its focus to the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against England. Led by Rohit Sharma, the team aims to fine-tune its squad ahead of the Champions Trophy. The first match of the three-game series is scheduled to take place in Nagpur on February 6.

The competition for the wicketkeeper’s role remains a key talking point ahead of the series opener. With Shubman Gill confirmed as vice-captain and set to open alongside Rohit Sharma, the middle order features Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer in crucial positions. The primary question revolves around whether Rishabh Pant or KL Rahul will be included as the team’s designated wicketkeeper. Pant’s inconsistent performances in recent Test series may tilt the decision in Rahul’s favor, particularly with the Champions Trophy on the horizon. The team management may prefer Rahul to solidify the squad’s stability.

Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are expected to handle the all-rounder responsibilities. However, Axar Patel’s spot in the playing XI remains uncertain. The bowling lineup is likely to include pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, while the spin department could see an interesting change.

Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been a standout performer in the T20 series against England, which could earn him a debut in the ODI format. His inclusion may depend on the team’s strategy, particularly if they opt for additional batting depth by selecting Washington Sundar. If Sundar is picked, Chakravarthy might have to wait for his opportunity in the ODI setup.

Meanwhile, several prominent figures participated in the Delhi Assembly elections. President Droupadi Murmu cast her vote in the capital, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also exercised his franchise. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and his wife Kyoko Jaishankar voted at NDMC School of Science and Humanities. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and his wife Lakshmi Puri cast their ballots at Mount Carmel School in Anand Niketan.

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and his wife voted at the Moti Bagh polling booth. Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia, contesting from the Jangpura constituency, voted at Lady Irwin Senior Secondary School, alongside his wife Seema Sisodia. Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi also participated in the election process.
